mobilizing disciples of Jesus Christ

OUR MISSION

Church242 exists to mobilize disciples of Jesus Christ to bring the
Gospel message of hope and restoration to the sidelines and the sidewalks.

OUR VISION

Our vision is to see our community radically transformed by the power of the Gospel.

WHY TANNER?

Within the city of Hanahan, the Tanner Communities are a large contributor to this growth. There are 22,000 people that call Hanahan home. This population is predicted to continue to increase in the coming years.

Throughout the week, families gather together on the sidelines of the ballfields to cheer their children on in their chosen sport. If this is where the people are, this is where the church must be.

As the population increases, we need more churches in this city and in this country that are biblically faithful, culturally relevant, and missionally focused.

We have to join the efforts of other faithful churches in reaching the lost with the gospel of Jesus Christ through living on mission and making disciples in our city to advance the Kingdom of God.

MEET THE MCSWAINS

Sean and Laura McSwain have been married since 2008 and have two  children Brynn and Wyatt. They are both originally from Georgia but moved to South Carolina after leaving the US Navy to work at a local non-profit, Water Mission. Sean is currently the Discipleship Pastor at their local church and Laura teaches math at Hanahan High School.

Sean and Laura have lived in Hanahan since 2017 and consider this town their home. Sean teaches Jiu Jitsu through the Recreation Dept. and Laura serves as a faculty advisor for the FCA. They have a burden for serving the city, and following God’s calling to reach the lost and make disciples of Jesus Christ in their community.

Sean earned his Master of Divinity and MBA through Liberty University and has a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from Auburn University. Sean has worked in the private sector, served as a Naval Officer, and as a Program Director and Disaster Response Coordinator for an international Non-profit before pursing God’s call to full-time ministry.

HOW CAN YOU BE A PART OF THIS MINISTRY?

PRAY

Church planting has existed since Pentecost with the coming of the Holy Spirit. Even from the beginning of the first century church, prayer has been a foundational element to the mission and success of the church. Church242 will be absolutely powerless without prayer from the body of believers. Please join us by committing to pray weekly or daily on our behalf. In doing so, you will receive a monthly newsletter that will provide specific prayer requests and updates on our church planting journey.

CONNECT

Now that you are aware of what God has called us to do, can you connect us with others like yourself who might be interested in partnering with us?  We would love to meet your family, friends, Sunday School class, Small Group, or business associates.

GIVE

Answering God’s call to ministry has required tremendous sacrifice and faith for our family. We are confident that God will provide not only for our personal financial needs, but also for the church’s.

To begin Church242 will need approximately $200,000 for the first year, $155,000 the second, and $100,000 for the third. This income will provide a salary for the lead planter as well as secure rental space, purchase equipment and marketing solutions, and discipleship material. With this understanding, it is often mission-minded family, friends, churches, and businesses that are used by God to provide for the church plant. There are several options for any willing financial supporter no matter the economic situation.

During the church’s infancy, Church242 will depend on Restoration Community Church, Kingdom Church, and Together Church for financial oversight, guidance, and accountability. Please partner with us by choosing one of the Partner Levels in the box to the right. (All financial support is tax-deductible) Please email questions to Sean@Church242.org.
